Boognish Be Praised!

I like Ween. When I'm lost for words trying to describe my sound after somebody asks me the inevitable question, I often defer to "A bit like Ween". It's a gross misrepresentation but to anyone who likes and knows Ween it speaks volumes. Ween don't fit into a pigeon-holed genre and neither do I (I think). Ween make (sadly, made) the music they wanted to make and didn't compromise. Truly admirable.

So why am I prattling on about Ween? I heard a rumor there was a Ween tribute album in the making and I want to be involved. I set out to record two of my favourite Ween songs (that i thought I hopefully won't ruin) and here they are!

I love recording. I've always paid close attention to the recording process when the bands I've played with were in a real studio - and since moving to Melbourne in 1996 I've been lucky enough to have recorded in many of Melbourne's finest. At home I've always tinkered with recording but for me it's more about delivering a finished sounding song rather than achieving a pure and technically "correct" sound.

Hi Folks, my new album Orbital Debris is now available digitally via Bandcamp. I'm hoping to press some CDs later in the year once I've made sure any record labels don't want to do it for me.

The Jimmy C's new Album "Orbital Debris" and "Mr. Someone" extended single are nearly finished! Digital versions should be available before the end of the year. Here's a preview of the cover art:

Here's something loosely Jimmy C Related: Magnus Sellergren (a talented Swedish musician and designer) is working on a solo album, "Call Me Greenhorn", to which I contributed some drums. Here's a teaser:

A couple of new songs that have nowhere else to go.

The new album (Orbital Debris) and single (Mr. Someone) are in with some mastering friends to run it all through some nice tube gear. While I've been waiting for them to find time to do it for free I've had a go at finishing one idea and recorded a completely new one. These two are not very Jimmy C sounding so they're going to live here for people to enjoy for free.

NEW MUSIC!

It's been a while since I've made any music public, but that's 'cos I've been spending all my spare time (between work and family commitments) in my studio demoing and writing.

Here's a few tracks that will probably make it onto a new album before the end of the year.

This one's quite a new one. The idea came to me one morning while I was giving the kids their breakfast. I recorded drums and some guitars on my lunch break and finished the tracking and mixing that night. I work pretty fast sometimes (considering I have hardly any spare time) but this is the first time I've written, recorded and finished a song in a day.

Here's one I wrote after listening to a lot of early Slade. I love Slade at the moment. It showcases my "rock" voice; ie. yelling out of my vocal range..

I'm not sure where this one came from. It's quite Queens Of The Stone Age sounding.

I was trying to sound like ELO on this one but it always comes out sounding like The Jimmy C. This is a rough demo version that I'l probably re-record.
