More Posters, and some controversy.

I do enjoy making posters. Particularly when the internerd has so many inspiring images to offer.

Here's another selection of posters for The T.V. Set and one for The Devilrock Four.

I don't consider half naked ladies to be an entirely controversial way to advertise a product or event. The history of the universe is packed full of examples of just such advertising, some successful and tastefully executed and some simply an attempt to see what people can get away with.

A few weeks ago some posters I slapped together for The Devilrock Four were torn down a week before the gig by what was described as "a group of angry feminists". I've posted the most daring of these below (the ones vandalised by the feminists actually showed less nudity). I will let the readers of this blog decide what is controversial.

Speaking of controversy, I was surprised to have the rest of The T.V. Set veto my latest work for them. This is also posted below for anyone's enjoyment. After the surprise of unwittingly designing something so shocking I tried a few different ones to make sure one would get through.

Excuses, excuses... Well, The Jimmy C hasn't been very active in recent months and though I fully intend to record all 30 something of the new songs hastily thrown down onto 4-track cassette, there are still a few lifestyle distractions to contend with before I do. A son and daughter have both been born since I last sat down to some serious recording time and work on the new "Casa De Kensington" home recording studio is still a few months away from completion. It's one of those situations where I'd love to get stuck into making the new album (and the next) but have to wait until the time is right. I wonder if Brian Wilson ever had this problem... (Ha! He's comparing himself to Brian Wilson - what a wanker!).

Just to prove I haven't been doing absolutely nothing (and still like design), here's some posters I slapped together for a cover band (unpopular covers played for enjoyment not profit) I play drums and sing a few songs in.

For anyone unable to pop in to Off The Hip in Melbourne's CBD, The Jimmy C's acclaimed "Glamour & Fame" album is now available to download through iTunes for $16.99.

Sure, you don't get the exquisite artwork and the tactile experience of actually owning the CD but since there's only 500 of these in the universe and Off The Hip is only in one place (Melbourne), buying it online might just be a very handy way to get this enjoyable chunk of music.

Here's a rare and shambolic glimpse of The Jimmy C in action singing and playing drums with The T.V. Set - a retro covers band - not playing songs that are popular favorites but playing songs we like. Small afternoon gig with a small P.A and very little foldback (We couldn't hear what we was singing so I was slightly horrified when I heard them for the first time in this video). It sounds like there were lots of people there though...
